What is the Mandatory Core Areas of Knowledge?

Individuals seeking to complete the training requirement for the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential may take training in the Ct Charts-A-Course Mandatory Core Areas of Knowledge. CT Charts-A-Course defined the topics that comprise the 157.5 hour Mandatory Core Areas of Knowledge delivered in the Module Sequence. Most of the topics in the Core Areas of Knowledge are embedded within the Mandatory Core Areas of Knowledge. Please see the document titled Module Sequence for the required sequential order these topics need to be taken in each Module.

Training participants seeking the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential must take all of the topics in the Mandatory Core Areas of Knowledge for a total of 157.5 hours of training.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The training in the Mandatory Core Areas of Knowledge cannot be used to renew a CDA credential.
